Norma Redpath, Ideas and Images: Theatres of the Mind, unpublished manuscript, 1985, pp. 24-26

Note:

This maquette relates to a significant series that Redpath developed c. 1982, titled Door to the Unknown, in which the ‘door’ was envisaged as a human-sized portal. Tecno in Milan fabricated a large-scale version (206.5 cm high) of a single portal, Door to the Unknown: Monolith, in brown-painted laminated wood for the artist’s exhibition in 1982. Fasham’s fabricated a second version of the monolithic version in aluminium for Redpath’s alma mater, Swinburne University, in 2015.
