— Biography of David Warren
David Warren was born in Melbourne and was awarded a Diploma of Fine Art from RMIT in 1964. His works belong to numerous national and international collection including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia and Art Bank.
After a year spent living in New York working at PRATT Graphics Centre in the early 80s, Warren took an interest in the coastlines of Victoria and the human body that continues today. He works from photographs which he works up in either pencil or oil in his studio. His nudes in particular display a rare talent for chiaroscuro and detail that reminds one of the renaissance painters.
