Donald Laycock, Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne, 1958
In 1957 Laycock and Mora had eloped and were living in frugal circumstances, though this did not interfere with their art making, and they continued to produce with minimal materials. All the works in Laycock’s 1958 MOMA exhibition were, in his words, 'painted in Cliff Pugh's chicken coop.'
