James Gleeson, Charles Nodrum Gallery, 5 - 26 November, 2016, no. 9
This work is one of a group of pastels on paper dating from the early 1980s, many of which prefigure the end of the artist's practice in the 1970s and the start of that extraordinary and sustained outpouring of creative effort which marked the last 25 years of his life. A truly phantasmagorical world emerges’ hovering between dreamscape and nightmare, the latter made dangerously seductive by the assured and caring hand visibly at work.
