Provenance:

Estate of John Vickery

Note:

After serving as a war artist in the U.S. Army throughout WWII, Vickery and his wife settled in Greenwich Village in New York and he earned a living in commercial art and design. This work was likely made at this time, before he began his Cruciform Series and later his Optical paintings of the late 60s early 1970s.
