A warmer atmosphere means that rainfall also becomes heavier. This is because warmer temperatures lead to more evaporation and moisture available in the atmosphere to fall as rain. Climate scientists predict more intense heavy rainfall events in the future, although this will be interspersed with longer dry spells as temperatures continue to increase. (Climarte)
