Note: This is the maquette for the monumental foyer sculpture that was commissioned in 1968 under Nugget Coombs’ aegis for the Reserve Bank Building in Adelaide Street, Brisbane. Redpath described it as ‘… a modern sculptural capital to be seen in its entirety from the street at lower ground level. The form expanding in volume depth and detail at upper floor level where longer viewing distances and more leisured viewing are possible. The major form is contained within an area 2.44 cm sq x 152.5 cm high, the column is 732.5 cm long’. David Moore photographed Redpath at work on this maquette. His close-up study of her plaster-covered hands is reproduced in his book, Australian Art and Artists in the Making (1969).
