Robert Lindsay, Project 16 – Paul Partos, exhibition catalogue, AGNSW, 1977:
“[Partos’] early works, from the time he graduated from RMIT in 1963 until his acclaimed one-man show in 1965, were principally concerned with expressing emotion in paint… Looking back on this period, [he] felt that it was inevitable, “that the emotional angst and the gutsy physical quality of the paint should be finite, and that once I had my first show I had exhausted the limited framework.” The 1965 exhibition was highly successful and on the proceeds of sales Paul Partos travelled to Europe and England.”
