Literature & references: The exhibition was reviewed by Ann Galbally negatively in the Age, 29 Oct 1969 and by Allan McCulloch more positively in the Herald, 29 Oct, 1969 who wrote: He zooms far ahead of the competition because of his drawing, which has developed a sudden, knife-edged sophistication, that attains full control of the initial sexy impact. Because of this and the accompanying command of character, colour, scale, arrangement, and rhythmic convolution, the brassy, bold-eyed nudes miraculously transcend vulgarity.
Also by Daniel Thomas in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph, 23 March 1969 - referring to work of a similar period. He was also positive: His work, seen in scattered showings, used to repel by its rough handling of paint though it was remarkable to find a young painter so strong but so seemingly uninterested in abstract art. It looked like pop art, being Sydney surf girls bulging out of their bikinis or Hollywood moviestars.
