Joelle Gergis, Sunburnt Country: The History and Future of Climate Change in Australia, MUP, 2018, p. 240:
"Research by renowned Australian ecologist Lesley Hughes has found that 53 per cent of the 800 species of Australian eucalypts have climatic ranges that can tolerate less than 3 degree shifts in average temperatures, while only 25 per cent of species survive wthin 1 degree of their current range.”
The painting had been laid on board but not glazed - and had also been discoloured by tobacco smoke. It has been taken off the backing, cleaned, glazed and archivally mounted. During this process, the title was revealed.
