Graeme Adamson, A Century of Change: The first hundred years of the Stock Exchange of Melbourne, Currey O'Neil Ross, Melbourne, 1984, p 217: The Stock Exchange of Melbourne, as part of its centenary celebrations, commissioned the distinguished Australian Landscape artist, Michael Shannon, to produce a series depicting various industries in Australia. The Michael Shannon Collection will hang at the Stock Exchange. Six of the works are reproduced in this book.
Plans for the dam began in the early 1970s and attracted opposition from conservationists and farmers. The Thomson River was selected due to both its large flow and elevation, and hence capacity to provide water, as well as hydroelectricity. The dam was overflowing in 1996, reached a low of 16.2% capacity in 2009, and was at about 50% in 2011.
