The work was later praised when exhibited at the Bloomfield Gallery in Sydney by Elwyn Lynn: “He then turned to fusions of often darker, flooding, paint-conscious colour that drowned boundaries in Pollockian lines of pigment or in thunderous, undisciplined waves.” (Weekend Australian, 2-3 July 1988, p 12)
